Mahanagar Gas raised CNG by ₹1 a kg on 1 October 2026. The new rate is ₹89 a kg. The company linked it to costlier domestic gas and imported LNG, and said about 12.93 lakh vehicles are affected.
CNG in Mumbai went up by ₹1 a kg on 1 October 2026. Mahanagar Gas set the new price at ₹89 a kg. The company said domestic gas and imported regasified LNG both cost more. The revision covers about 12.93 lakh vehicles in the Mumbai metropolitan region, which includes cars, taxis and auto-rickshaws.

A rupee a kilogram is a small line on one fill and a real line on a car that runs on CNG every day. Auto and taxi fares do not change by themselves the morning a fuel rate moves. If you own a CNG car in Mumbai, Thane or Navi Mumbai, the number that matters is the one on the dispenser, not a chart from last month.
What is worth checking on the car itself?
A higher kilogram price does not fix a leak, a tired filter or a filling valve that cuts out early. If the tank seems to hold less than it used to, that is a workshop question, not a price question. Pune's city gas price is a different company and a different board.
MGL described the increase as a pass-through of input gas. Fill at a metered dispenser and keep the receipt if a fleet account has to be reconciled. Service for the car, separate from the gas bill, can be booked through the workshop locator.
