State-run pumps left petrol and diesel unchanged on 7 October 2026. In Mumbai that is ₹111.21 for petrol and ₹97.83 for diesel. A private retailer had already raised its own rate over the weekend.
State-run petrol and diesel prices did not move at the 6 am revision on Wednesday, 7 October 2026. In Mumbai, petrol is ₹111.21 a litre and diesel is ₹97.83. Delhi is cheaper on both: ₹102.12 petrol and ₹95.20 diesel. Bengaluru is ₹111.68 petrol and ₹99.56 diesel.

Those are the city rates published after the morning revision. Thane, Navi Mumbai, Palghar and Pune are not the same board as Mumbai or Delhi. Read the price at the pump you actually use. A large private retailer raised its own petrol by ₹5 a litre and diesel by ₹3 on Saturday. That hike is not the state-run price in the table above.
What should you check before a long drive?
- Whether the pump is a state-run company or a private retailer. The two boards are not required to match.
- The price for the fuel your car actually takes. A petrol figure does not tell you the diesel bill.
- That the attendant starts the meter from zero. The city rate is per litre, not a bundled amount.
The city list is the one published for 7 October by Mint. More of this week's notes are on Automobile News.
